As i discovered that the maquette i had been constructing was not the correct width i required for my ship i was happy to call an end to that maquette as i am happy with it and ive learnt all i need from it.
What i next needed to do was assemble, wait for it, another maquette! Here for the second maquette (photos below) was to create the front end of the ship with the correct width required.
Mechanical Mischief!
This is my blog for side projects i am creating in the voids of time i have between university work.

Long time no post!
Hey all, its been a very long time since ive been working on this project.. but as ive now finished my time machine and essay, and now currently it is my summer vacation i can now continue with my Turian concept ship.
The last time we left it i had gotten pretty far with the making of the making of the maquette. I feel that im quite happy with how it has gone but i feel im now finished with it as it has clearly shown me how i will make the spaceship in more maluble materials, although there has been two issues, first with the front of the vessel and secondly the width of the all around vessel (made it too narrow on the maquette!).
My plan now is to create a second and final maquette is too creat the front end of spaceship that will be to the correct width to get the angles needed for the vertical wings.
Next Update will hopefully be the second maquette!

We're gonna have to put her on hold...
Unfortunately time ran short for independent work and i am now on assessed work, which happens to be more important, so this project will be put on hold for a little bit.
Im sorry if i have not uploaded any photos of the current progress between this time, but here's a sneak peak of the point it is at now.
Enjoy!
Designing and making for this design shall continue around easter when i have free time again. Until then, g'bye!

She cannot fly without wings Capt'n!
Here were the beginnings to the making of my space ship... Well not technically my design but I have drawn it out more technically and am making it...? More to the point; I have decided that I will make a maquette out of mount board initially so that I will not mess up with a more expensive material first time round, sensible idea yes? After I have completed the mount board maquette I then plan to make the design out of 1mm Styrene as I feel its suitable for the job, accessible to me and can be cut with a Swann Morton.
Here is an image of all the vertical wings for the ship in correct scale (I hope) made from 1mm mount board doubled up to make the size and the divided panels on the outsides of all the wings.

Ruin the pretty picture!
Don't be at fear for I have not drawn in my 52 quid book, but rather scanned the image for defiling! Actually, I wouldn't really call it defiling as the doodles and sketches that I have caked the original drawing in are my visual notes needed for certain parts of the ship, including angles of parts and also defining pieces so that I may understand its true form.
From another perspective
To aid me in the creation of the design I have chosen three dimensionally, I decided that I would first draw the elevations of the ship as and when I needed them. I began making with only the side view drawn up but as I was coming up to the main bulk of the ship I needed the top view as well. As of yet I've not needed the front view but I may draw it to complete the orthographic drawing.
Welcome!
This is a personal blog I created to document development stages of both personal and assessed projects during my time in university (4 months have already pass but i will start from now onwards).
As we have had no assessed work since the end of last term (mid December) we have been given time to do our own personal project. I had a few projects in mind but guiltily none prevailed, until I had stumbled upon a certain book... and its name is, The Art of Mass Effect. As a massive Sci-Fi and also a gaming enthusiast I made it my solemn effort to try and find this book! I loved the actual game, and the aesthetics of the environment and vehicles were so stunning, I feel ashamed I had not already looked for this book previously or heard of it. After a long time of contemplation and freaking about the prices that the book in question is going for these days I finally found it within myself to buy said book... It cost me £52.00... That's the cheapest I could find it at the time.

That's the cheapest I could find it at the time. It was only until I had come back to uni that the book had finally arrived safely into my possession. When I first looked through it I was genuinely in awe, the vast range of designs that have been collaborated together into sections, my personal favourites at the back being the vehicles and location concepts of the game. That is when I saw it, the thing I wanted to create for my personal project. It was/is an early concept for the Turian space ship which I found interesting and preferred to the chosen one for the game, but i guess the one chosen for game was a lot more battle fit then this one... Anyway this is the design I have chosen to pursue and create!
